Samsung Launches Its Standalone Samsung Find App

Samsung Spins Off SmartThings Find into New Standalone Samsung Find App

Samsung has separated its SmartThings Find feature from the SmartThings app, turning it into a new standalone application called Samsung Find.

The new Samsung Find app replaces the SmartThings Find feature and introduces new functionality that allows users to track the devices of family members.

With this app, users can track their Galaxy devices, as well as locate devices belonging to family members.

Key Features of Samsung Find

The app includes three main tabs: People, Devices, and Items.

  • The People tab allows users to share their real-time location with family and friends, and receive their locations in return, enhancing safety and real-time awareness.
  • The Devices tab helps users locate their own devices and those of their family members on a map.
  • The Items tab enables users to find misplaced Galaxy SmartTags attached to personal belongings such as keys, wallets, or luggage, eliminating the hassle of searching for lost items.

Missing Feature and Future Updates

While Samsung Find includes most features from SmartThings Find, it currently lacks the “Notify When Left Behind” feature.

This feature previously alerted users when they left behind items attached to a Galaxy SmartTag, such as keys or earbuds.

Samsung is expected to bring this feature back in a future update of the Samsung Find app.

Availability and One UI 6.1 Integration

The app comes pre-installed on newer Samsung devices running One UI 6.1.

For devices that have not yet received the update, Samsung Find can be downloaded from the Galaxy Store.

The One UI 6.1 update introduces several changes, most notably new AI-powered features.

It is currently available on the Galaxy S24 series, bringing features such as live translation, smart search, and other enhancements, along with improvements to existing functionalities
